What is PRP

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) — a concentrate of platelets from the patient's blood. Platelets contain growth factors in alpha-granules.

PRP Composition

Platelets (concentration 2-5 times higher than in blood). Growth factors: PDGF, TGF-beta, VEGF, EGF, IGF-1. Small number of leukocytes (depends on system). Blood plasma.

Mechanism of Action

Growth factors stimulate migration and proliferation of resident cells (chondrocytes, tenocytes, fibroblasts). Enhance collagen and proteoglycan synthesis. Anti-inflammatory effect.

Limitations

Works only when viable resident cells are present. With significant damage to native cells, there are insufficient cells to stimulate. Liquid form — rapidly resorbs (hours).

What are Stem Cells (Lipogems®)

Lipogems® — patented technology for obtaining microfragmented adipose tissue that preserves the stromal-vascular fraction (SVF) in natural extracellular matrix.

Lipogems® Composition

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) — multipotent: can differentiate into chondrocytes (cartilage), tenocytes (tendons), osteoblasts (bone), fibroblasts (ligaments). Pericytes — stem cells of the vascular wall, stabilize microcirculation. Extracellular matrix — natural scaffold, ensures survival and function of stem cells.

Mechanism of Action

Differentiation: MSC become cells of the needed type (chondrocytes in joint, tenocytes in tendon). Paracrine secretion: release dozens of bioactive molecules: anti-inflammatory (IL-10, PGE2, TGF-beta), neurotrophic (NGF, BDNF), angiogenic (VEGF), anti-fibrotic. Immunomodulation: suppress autoimmune inflammation.

Advantages over Bone Marrow

Adipose tissue contains 500-1000 times more MSC than bone marrow. Harvest is less traumatic (mini-lipoaspiration vs iliac crest puncture). Lipogems® preserves the niche — stem cells remain in natural matrix, which increases their survival and function.

CGF — Enhanced PRP

CGF (Concentrated Growth Factors) — next-generation PRP. Developed by Professor Sacco (Nice).

CGF Differences from PRP

Concentration: 10 times more growth factors than standard PRP. Fibrin scaffold: CGF is not liquid but gel/membrane. Retained in the injury site for weeks, providing prolonged release. Leukocytes: in optimal ratio — neutrophils for antimicrobial protection, macrophages for regeneration coordination.

Synergy of CGF + Lipogems®

CGF provides: signaling molecules (growth factors), scaffold for cell attachment, anti-inflammatory environment. Lipogems® provides: stem cells for differentiation, paracrine secretion, long-term regeneration. Together — complete regenerative system.

Safety of Stem Cells

Autologous = Absolutely Safe

Lipogems® uses the patient's own cells. No risk of rejection, allergies, or infection transmission. No laboratory cultivation (cell expansion) required—cells are used immediately after harvesting.

Clinical Experience

Over 30,000 Lipogems® procedures worldwide. Over 200 scientific publications. FDA approved (USA), CE approved (Europe). Prof. Babayan has performed over 2,000 MIBRAR® procedures.

No Oncogenic Risk

Adult mesenchymal stem cells (unlike embryonic cells) have no oncogenic potential. Numerous studies confirm safety.

Questions

What are stem cells in MIBRAR®?

Mesenchymal stem cells from the patient's adipose tissue (Lipogems® technology). They can differentiate into chondrocytes, tenocytes, and osteoblasts. Plus pericytes and extracellular matrix—a natural scaffold.

Are stem cells safe?

Autologous (patient's own) cells are absolutely safe. No risk of rejection, allergies, or infection. Over 15 years of clinical experience with 30,000+ procedures worldwide.

Why Lipogems® instead of bone marrow?

Adipose tissue contains 500-1000 times more MSC. Harvesting is less traumatic. Lipogems® preserves the stem cell niche (ECM), increasing cell survival and function.

Is PRP alone sufficient?

It depends on the injury. Mild tendinopathies may benefit from PRP. Osteoarthritis, disc herniation, and significant injuries require stem cells. MIBRAR® combines both components for maximum effect.
